I love all of God's amazing creatures and I don't remember a time in my life when I wasn't taking care of something. Whether it be one of our own pets, someone else's, or a baby bird who had fallen from a nest. In addition to dogs and cats I have experience caring for rats, gerbils, snakes, bearded dragons, birds, rabbits, chickens, ducks and turkey and cows!
My family has been offering in-our-home sitting for as long as I can remember, and I have been offering in-your-home pet sitting since 2019.
Attentiveness, reliability, punctuality, honesty and integrity are the main core values I build my services on. I consider it a privilege and an honor when you entrust your four-legged family members with me. As a nurturer by nature, I love being there to tend to your home and pet's needs as if they were my own. All of the pet sitters who work with Home's Best Pet Nannies share my same values and qualities.
Little Scarlett. We jokingly called Scarlett our Rent-a-Dog, but the truth is, no money was ever exchanged. It was more like a Borrow-a-Dog or Drop-Her-Off-Whenever-You-Want type of exchange that our family had going on with our neighbor.
My 3 older brothers and I had been begging my mom and dad for a dog for years. With four kids, the thought of adding a dog to the family seemed overwhelming to my mom. After our neighbor adopted puppy Scarlett, my mom had the big idea that maybe if she "borrowed" Scarlett enough, we kids would grow weary of the responsibility of caring for a pet and we'd give up on the idea of having a dog of our own. It's not that mom doesn't love dogs. It's that she loves them a lot! And she knows that dogs are family.... who require a lot of love, time, attention and care. And she also knew that no matter how many times we kids said, "I'm gonna take care of her!", the majority of the dog responsibilities would still mostly fall on her.
Well, mom's big "Rent-A-Dog" idea didn't work. In fact, it totally backfired! Scarlett simply sealed the deal and made us all want a dog even more.
Mom caved : )
At that time my eldest brother had a dog-walking business, which had organically grown into a "Can you keep my dog while we go on vacation?" business. One of our pet sit guests was a Staffordshire Terrier. Mom loved her (like she did all of the guests) and felt the Staffy breed was the perfect size and personality for our family. She set out to find a puppy and then one glorious day she and dad surprised us with a 10 week old puppy! Best day ever!
Staffies are known for being Nanny Dogs and Mocha fits this description perfectly. She is very welcoming to all of our guests. When they arrive she immediately and excitedly escorts them to the back door for a run around our fenced acre. She likes to show off how fast she is! She always makes sure everyone gets along. If any of our guests get a little too rambunctious, Mocha teaches them how to act like a civilized pack member. She's very motherly and gracious and has never hurt any of them in the correction process. Her nickname is the "Fun Police" and "Tattle-Tale because there will be no fights, furniture chewing, or counter surfing on Mocha's watch!
Mocha has been a loyal part of our family for 13 years (in 2024) and we love her dearly.
